This course provides an introduction into the processes used in the healthcare industry for disease classifications and reimbursement. Students will be introduces to disease, diagnostic procedures, and the processes used in classification, identification and categorization.
Topics may include introduction to classification systems, coding, ICD coding, and inpatient reimbursement methods including Fee for Service, diagnostic related groupings, All Inclusive Rates, Risk Assignment and outpatient reimbursement. You will also examine the future of IT in the health sciences by looking at internet information, and ethical and security issues.
